RICARDO VOGT

Ricardo Vogt is a 3-time Grammy award-winning guitarist and singer-songwriter from Brazil who graduated from Berklee College of Music. He plays fingerstyle guitar and combines authentic Brazilian rhythms with rich jazz harmonies to form his own unique style.

Ricardo is a former member of jazz star Esperanza Spalding’s quartet.  He recorded on her 2 Grammy-winning albums, ‘Chamber Music Society’ and ‘Radio Music Society’.  On Chamber Music Society", Ricardo recorded Spalding's work "Apple Blossom" as a trio with Spalding and legendary Brazilian singer Milton Nascimento. On the second album Jack DeJohnette, Joe Lovano and Leo Genovese are also featured. 

Milton described Ricardo's guitar as "... a whole orchestra..." and invited him to write songs together, recording an album of 10 original works. Another of their works, "Olha a Rua", was recorded by Sergio Mendes on his album "Magic", which was also nominated for a Grammy.  Ricardo also collaborated with Sergio Mendes and Milton Nascimento to record the soundtrack for the animated film Rio 2.

Ricardo has also performed and recorded with Brazilian multi-Grammy winning pianist Eliane Elias and bassist Marc Johnson.  Their highly acclaimed Blue Note Records release ‘Bossa Nova Stories’ features Ricardo and also Ivan Lins and Toots Thielemans. 

Ricardo is also a distinguished arranger and has recently arranged songs for Bossa Nova star Lisa Ono. 

As a headliner, Ricardo has performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Hong Kong International Jazz Festival and the New Years show at the Blue Note club in Shanghai.
