Anastasiya Voytyuk
Ukrainian Folk Singing
Anastasia Voytyuk (BanduraGirl) is a bandura player, singer, performer from Lviv, Ukraine. She leads a folk fusion band Troye Zillia (https://rb.gy/gktzyt), they work with Ukrainian folk songs arranging them in world music direction. She likes exploring Ukrainian folklore, while it gives her a feeling of strong roots and connection between people as well as understanding the role of songs in everyday life, where they serve as milestones, mediators and empower people to live through joy and sorrow. Anastasiya also likes to experiment and look for new dimensions of traditional culture. Since the war started her life changed dramatically: in the beginning of war she was working in a shelter for refugees and then was involved in charitable concerts mostly abroad. Before war Troye Zillia consisted of Ukrainian musicians, after the war started, unfortunately members of the band were separated. She played with Polish musicians, most of the concerts are in Poland & Germany, but she really hopes that their music will return to Ukraine. In 2023 she took part in GMW for the first time and was inspired by the fusion of cultures and how people were open with each other. In between, Anastasiya is also producing educational & inclusive projects in the field of music & theater, and founded a festival of modern bandura and series of educational courses for musicians.
